Career PATH

France (FFF): 1992–2002

During one of the most successful eras in French football, Karembeu was a valued member of the national squad. He lifted both the 1998 FIFA World Cup on home soil and UEFA Euro 2000, joining the select group of players to have won both major international tournaments.

FC Nantes: 1990–1995

His professional career began at FC Nantes, where he contributed to the team’s French Division 1 title win in the 1994–95 season — his first major club honour.

Real Madrid CF: 1997–2000

Joining Real Madrid CF in January 1998, Karembeu quickly became an important figure in a star-studded Galácticos squad. He helped the club win two UEFA Champions League titles (1997–98, 1999–2000), scoring crucial goals in knockout rounds. His ability to perform in key matches and adapt across midfield and defensive positions earned him lasting respect.

Olympiacos FC: 2001–2004

The later peak of his playing career came at Olympiacos, where he helped the club to two Greek Super League titles. His leadership and control in midfield were central to their domestic success in the early 2000s.
Following his retirement, Karembeu returned to Olympiacos as Technical Director, influencing the club’s sporting strategy and player development.
