Netherlands (KNVB): 2000–2012
Across 79 international appearances, Mark van Bommel was a consistent force in the Dutch midfield, featuring in major tournaments such as the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups and Euro 2008. As captain during the 2010 World Cup, he helped lead the Netherlands all the way to the final.
Fortuna Sittard: 1992–1999
His professional journey began with Fortuna Sittard, where he played a key role in securing promotion to the Eredivisie in 1995. During his time there, he quickly emerged as one of the most promising midfielders in Dutch football.
PSV Eindhoven: 1999–2005, 2012–2013
A move to PSV saw van Bommel quickly become a fan favourite. He won the Eredivisie in 2000/01 along with multiple KNVB Cups and Johan Cruyff Shields, earning the Dutch Footballer of the Year award in 2001.
